We recognise the importance of delivering social value through our internal and external communities and support our people to deliver activities where they can make the most difference through selected charity partners, social outreach, and volunteering. Our three main aims are to:
- Demonstrate our commitment to the wider community;
- Motivate staff across the Group, by encouraging teambuilding activities in a worthwhile cause; and
- Communicate Computacenter’s core values to customers, staff and other stakeholders.
Inspiring Future Generations
To attract diverse talent, we continue to run outreach programmes with schools, universities, and charities, promoting awareness of women in technology, attracting minority ethnic talent, people with disabilities, and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. In addition, we offer a unique mentoring programme and career changer programme for female candidates interested in technology roles.
Over 140 employee volunteers in the UK supported our educational outreach programme (Bright Futures) during 2022, reaching over 34,000 students and young adults. The Bright Futures mission is to support the next generation of young people by inspiring them to follow a career in technology.
In October 2021 we were proud to be recognised at the CRN Women in Channel Awards 2021 for our Community Outreach Programme.
UK Armed Forces Covenant
We were proud to sign the UK Armed Forces Covenant in 2020.
This is our promise as a company to ensure that those who serve, or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
In practical terms, this means that we are an armed-forces friendly organisation; we actively support the employment of veterans and their spouses and partners; we support our employees who are members of the reserve forces; offer our time to cadet forces in our communities and schools; and continue to support Armed Forces Day and other forces charities.
We have also formed an active Armed Forces Employee Impact Group that is made up of interested colleagues who meet to consider how Computacenter can develop as a forces-friendly organisation.
Our Wider Communities
Our work with future talent is a key part of our strategy for working with our wider communities and how we deliver social value. Over the last few years, we have developed strong partnerships with a number of schools, universities, and charities in the UK where we can influence and support students in the areas of:
- Talent from ethnic minorities;
- STEM awareness and women in tech;
- People with disabilities;
- Youth in crisis - economic weak areas
