Computacenter Wins Sun's First Service
14/09/00
2000 sees the launch of Sun's first reseller award for service and support. This year's award has been won by Computacenter. "The award is not in recognition of business volume, but is designed to recognise quality and excellence in support and service levels. It encourages Sun's partners to refine and expand their offerings," said Julie Lernyei, UK Channel Marketing Manager of Sun Enterprise Services.
Sun's new programmes (Sun ServiceManager, Sun ServiceAssociate and Sun ServiceRepresentative) were introduced throughout last year, with 2000 being the first business year that partners have worked under these new titles.
Broad testing criteria
The judging criteria were deliberately broad in order to test resellers on the complete spectrum of their services. Analysis was done of how all Sun resellers have developed their Sun service business and assessed the level of personnel skills, particularly on helpdesk, technical, sales and support, and training. The judging panel also evaluated the effectiveness of the marketing and technical investment made by each partner.
Concrete measure
One of the key areas in which Computacenter's service quality was measured was through the level of contract renewal. Jim Carroll, Regional Sales Manager of Computacenter's Sun Division explains why Computacenter's record in this area is particularly high. "Achieving a consistent growth in customer satisfaction levels is not an easy target and has been achieved through substantial investment in the quality of our Sun staff. Every member of the Sun team receives continuous personal development training, starting with a dedicated induction course for all new employees.
This year has seen our Sun Service business grow significantly due to a combination of new business wins in the dot.com arena and one of the highest contract renewal rates in the industry."
Effective marketing
The Sun ServiceManager award also recognised the quality and effectiveness of Computacenter's marketing team for Sun Service. The judges particularly noted the development and creation of a support services overview datasheet and a Sun services section on Computacenter's Web site.
Presenting the award, Julie Lernyei commented that judging by Computacenter. s performance they have certainly set a tough benchmark for 2001. He added that Computacenter had demonstrated a great understanding of the Sun philosophy and as such is a valued reseller..
