Computacenter Wins Second Prestigious Supplier Award From BT

BT has again awarded Computacenter a prestigious award for its participation in a scheme run by BT UK Business Services. The only supplier to have achieved success in two consecutive years, Computacenter was one of only nine of some 3,000 BT suppliers to receive an award at the telecommunication giant’s annual “Investing In Excellence” awards ceremony, which was held at The Gibson Hall in London on November 18.

Computacenter was presented with the award by Bill Cockburn, Managing Director of BT UK. The award was based on Computacenter’s work on a ‘Supplier Diversity’ project, working with SME businesses from ethnic and other minorities.

Bill Cockburn said he was "extremely proud to be presenting Computacenter with the award", which recognises one of the many achievements in Computacenter’s long term partnership with BT. Computacenter also received praise from Alec Daly, Chairman of the CBI Manufacturing Council, who spoke at the award ceremony.

BT’s Supplier Diversity programme helps minority organisations develop an understanding of how to do business with organisations such as BT. It does this by offering each organisation a major corporate mentor to offer advice on best business practices, operations support and provide other commercial guidance to help build their business. Computacenter mentored a small IT services company, Hardware Trade Technology (HTTL). Computacenter assigned Services and Account Management resource to assist HTTL in a number of areas. Key achievements were:

• Helping HTTL to secure better commercial terms with their suppliers
• Providing HTTL with business leads for product and services, 40% of which were converted to sales
• Providing HTTL with credit facilities, which are difficult to obtain when you are a small company
• Providing HTTL with high level training and tutoring on vendor accreditation schemes
• Providing HTTL with generic business guidance on business planning, forecasting, budgeting and marketing
• Helping HTTL to instigate a quality programme

Jay Mastin, Managing Director of HTTL, said of the programme: “HTTL are delighted with the outcome of the Supplier Diversity programme - we have received real benefits from it.
