Computacenter wins key categories in GCat 2

The announcement of the successful bidders for the GCat 2 contract, from the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), confirms Computacenter's pivotal role in developing and operating framework procurement agreements. The new contract commences October 2001 and Computacenter will not only enjoy "Value Added Reseller for the Government" status, but also that of "Solutions Provider". It is estimated that GCat 2 could be worth up to £2.5 billion over a full five-year term.

OGC have awarded contracts under seven separate supply categories. The two contracts awarded to Computacenter will allow GCat customers, for the first time, to access the full range of Computacenter services across all of the categories, including IT managed services, maintenance, telecoms, hardware and software. As the VAR, Computacenter can provide all products and services under the seven categories.

Computacenter has successfully run the current GCat scheme for the last three years and has grown annual revenues from £35 million in 1997 to over £235 million in the last financial year.
