Computacenter’s services come out tops in CIO survey

CIOs in the UK have rated Computacenter as one of the most capable IT service providers in an independent research study by CIO Connect.

The company came joint second in this year’s CIO Connect Census supplier ratings, with nearly a third of respondents citing Computacenter as highly capable. A further 60 per cent of CIOs rated the company as moderately capable in the annual research initiative.The survey’s respondents also cited Computacenter as the most popular provider of IT services and systems integration. A third of organisations partner with Computacenter ahead of the likes of LogicaCMG, Capgemini and CSC.

The annual census, which analyses the trends that are shaping the use of IT, revealed that finding a supplier with the right attitude was a challenge for 79 per cent of respondents. It is therefore no surprise that 87 per cent of CIOs now prefer to deal with a small number of strategic suppliers, rather than a vast range.

Margaret Smith, Chief Executive for CIO Connect – a membership organisation for top IT decision-makers – commented: “Trying to maintain and manage multiple suppliers can take vital resources away from strategic IT projects and impact service. As a result, CIOs would rather build long-term strategic relationships that are founded more on partnership than traditional supplier/client interactions. This approach not only enables organisations to achieve better results but also gives them more negotiating power.”
