04/02/2003

The Six Nations committee today (Tuesday, 4th February, 2003) announced that they have appointed Computacenter, a leading European provider of IT infrastructure services, as the official data and statistics partner of the RBS Six Nations Championship.

The three-year partnership will enable Computacenter to continue to provide the Six Nations TV broadcasters with a comprehensive graphics and on-screen statistics service. In addition Computacenter will be providing match statistics and analysis to BBC Interactive, BBC CEEFAX, BBC Online, and BBC Radio, as well as to the domestic and international press, participating unions and team coaches.

All match analysis and player performance data will be tracked live at the stadium by top grade international referees and entered into a real-time cumulative historical database from which reports will be compiled and distributed to the media.

Adam Austin, Director of Marketing for Computacenter commented:
“ We are very pleased to extend our successful partnership with the Six Nations. Computacenter has worked closely with the media, referees and team coaches over the last three years to establish the most comprehensive statistics service in the game. We are committed to working in top class rugby union, and supporting the game in the long term through the provision of IT support and information services.”

Jacques Laurans, the Chairman of the Six Nations committee, added:
" We are delighted to continue our relationship with Computacenter, who have proved to be a wonderful partner that understands the complex requirements of the greatest annual rugby tournament in the World. Computacenter's reputation, previous experience, and technical knowledge have raised the bar in relation to the provision of valuable statistics and data in a very challenging environment."
