Countdown Begins For Hatfield NSPCC Challenge Team

11/06/03

Staff at the Hatfield based company Computacenter have less than a month left to fine-tune their fitness levels and finalise their fundraising activities in preparation for Europe’s largest corporate team-building exercise, The Microsoft Challengers Trophy, in aid of the NSPCC.

The Microsoft Challengers Trophy is a three and a half day event taking place in a secret location in Snowdonia from 11-15 June 2003 which tests mind, body and team spirit. Participants may find themselves running, mountain biking, canoeing, scaling cliffs, tackling assault courses or performing engineering tasks, thinking laterally and making critical decisions – but they will be kept in suspense until the competition begins.

The Computacenter team will be competing against over 100 teams from over 50 UK companies in aid of the NSPCC’s FULL STOP Campaign to end cruelty to children. Awards will be made for the team completing the course in the fastest time and for the team or company raising the most money.

Computacenter Team Captain Miguel Rodriguez comments: “The Microsoft Challengers Trophy is a highly effective means of developing team skills which can be taken back to the workplace. It is a great boost for morale and it is especially motivating to realise that we are supporting the NSPCC’s work with abused and ill-treated children. Thanks to all our colleagues and customers for supporting our efforts.”

NSPCC Campaign Director Nick Booth who is leading the Challenger charity team says: “In 2002 The Microsoft Challengers Trophy raised nearly £350,000 for the NSPCC and we hope to match that this year. The Society runs 180 projects across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, all working towards our aim to end cruelty to children. FULL STOP. None of this vital work, carried out with 10,000 children and their families every year, would be possible without the support of the public and companies like Computacenter.”
