Computacenter to manage BAA's desktop estate

Leading airports company, BAA is to outsource the management of its desktop infrastructure to IT services provider Computacenter in a five-year contract. The contract includes the provision of hardware, software licenses and IT services for around 10,000 desktops, and is worth around £45million over the contract period.

From 1 April Computacenter will become responsible for a range of desktop services including maintenance, asset disposal, installations, moves and changes, replacing agreements that BAA had with a number of different suppliers.

Richard Rundle, BAA’s group IT director, commented: “We are constantly striving to find more cost-effective ways to manage our growing IT infrastructure. By consolidating our desktop requirements into one end-to-end services contract, we expect to generate savings of around £1.6 million per year, which represents a significant return on our investment.

Rundle added: “Computacenter impressed us by their understanding of our requirements and ability to deliver excellence in the key areas of flexibility and cost control”.
