Computacenter wins major BMC Software award and strategic project from Static2358

11/10/2001

Just over a year after Computacenter became BMC Software's first OnSite™ Partner in Europe, offering a remote monitoring and performance management service for enterprise customers, Computacenter today announced it has sealed its place as one of BMC Software's premier partners by winning BMC Software's EMEA VAR of the Year 2001 Award.

BMC Software's solution plays an integral role in the delivery of Computacenter's fully managed hosting service, SiteHost. Computacenter operates two Service Operations Centre's, which are staffed by ITIL accredited service analysts, 24x7, who utilise as part of their managed support service BMC Software PATROL® to provide pro-active monitoring and management of clients mission-critical systems, such as Homebase, Build-on-line and Static 2358.

Interactive media company Static 2358 has been using this service since September last year. Eric Zie, Director of Operations at Static, said: "By outsourcing monitoring and performance management, we have been able to concentrate on our core business while also improving network performance.

" Computacenter's remote monitoring and management service provides a safeguard from any nasty surprises and enables us to quickly resolve any production systems faults or performance issues, ensuring business availability."

Simon Walsh, Computacenter's Director of Enterprise, confirms, "It is an honour to be acknowledged for the work we have done together. The inclusion of BMC Software in our toolset has ensured our service proposition provides guaranteed systems up-time, which means, reliable infrastructures for our customers, thereby helping them to avoid damaging and costly application downtime."

Since signing the contract with BMC Software, Computacenter has grown the business dramatically. However, Simon Teager - Partner Director for BMC Software in the UK, points out that sheer business volume alone would not have earned the company this award. "BMC sees its partnership with Computacenter as critical to its success in the UK market. Computacenter's national coverage, the quality of its customer base, its technical capabilities and its understanding of what it takes to deliver highly available, mission-critical systems set it apart. Computacenter has already shown its willingness to invest in the relationship with BMC and we, for our part, intend to make that investment pay."

Simon Walsh also believes that the partnership of the two companies offers customers a major benefit. "We have a substantial track record of joint successes where we have been able to help customers make their infrastructures more resilient and reliable, ensuring that the applications residing on them deliver better service. By partnering we are able to provide a greater breadth of capability and a total solution that leverages the complimentary strengths of both companies, while reducing customers' multi vendor management burdens."
