21/01/2002

The Six Nations committee today (Monday 21 January 2002) announced that they have appointed Computacenter, the IT infrastructure and services company, as the official supplier of statistics to the 2002 Lloyds TSB Six Nations Championship.

The partnership will provide the Six Nations with comprehensive match statistics and analysis whilst granting official marketing rights to Computacenter.

The official status recognises the growing importance and interest in match analysis by both officials and spectators alike and with that Computacenter's commitment to developing international rugby statistics, in association with their partner HourGlass Vision Ltd.

On announcing the new partnership, Allan Hosie, Chairman of the Six Nations Committee said: "We are delighted to welcome Computacenter as an official supplier to the 2002 Lloyds TSB Six Nations Championship and look forward to benefiting from their expertise in match analysis and statistics. Their professionalism, efficiency and quality of service has impressed us and we believe such commercial partnerships are essential to ensure the successful future of the Championship."

Adam Austin, Director of Marketing, Computacenter said:
"We have worked hard to develop both the content and distribution of our match statistics and through our relationship with HourGlass Vision Ltd are continually pushing the boundaries with new initiatives to increase interest in the game of rugby.

"One such initiative this year is the provision of an onscreen explanation as to why a penalty has been awarded. Such developments are only achievable due to the high calibre of referees we use live at the ground to record the statistics and the proactive relationship we enjoy with the Six Nations broadcasters.

"Our association with the Six Nations is an important development in our sponsorship activity. Computacenter's core business is about enabling other businesses to grow through efficient and innovative use of IT and it is this philosophy that we are taking into rugby union".
