New Rose to raise thousands for cancer charity with boost from Computacenter

02/12/02

Helping hand roseEuropean IT infrastructure services company Computacenter is working with Macmillan Cancer Relief to raise funds through the sale of a new breed of rose, ‘Helping Hands’. For every ‘Helping Hands’ rose-bush sold, a donation will be made to Macmillan to provide expert care and support for people living with cancer.

The ‘Helping Hands’ rose has been grown and developed on behalf of brothers, Ian and Neal Silverstein, whose mother, Margaret Anne Silverstein, died from cancer in 2000, and was supported during her illness by Macmillan. Neal’s employer, Computacenter, has pledged to match pound for pound the money raised from the sale of the rose. With Computacenter’s support, a donation of four pounds will be made to Macmillan for a single rose and up to twenty pounds for a three-bush pack.

‘IT companies like Computacenter don’t get involved with roses every day,’ says Macmillan’s Fundraising Developer Manager, Lisa Irwin. ‘It’s great to see companies embracing new, unusual fundraising ideas to support both their employees and also people with cancer.’

The rose can be ordered via Love4plants Ltd on 01480 408589 or by FAX on 01480 408586.
