Computacenter Opens Gibraltar Office to Support eGaming Companies

January 2012

New location established with Operations team offering Professional Services and 4-hour SLAs to accelerate IT solutions installation and problem resolution.

Computacenter, Europe's leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services and solutions, today announces the opening of its new office in Gibraltar, aimed at supporting global eGaming companies and other thriving industries on The Rock.

Computacenter is currently the only solutions provider in Gibraltar to hold engineering equipment and spare parts on-site, rather than shipping components from Spain or further abroad. This enables the team to offer 4-hour SLAs on issues resolution, which no other company in Gibraltar can, significantly decreasing time taken to resolve problems.

Computacenter will also be providing Professional Services, bringing end-to-end capability to support Gibraltar-based businesses. The new office comprises full-time staff and a virtual engineering team of 12, in addition to Client Director Marc Fryer.

"eGaming companies have very specific technical needs and this office aims to support them throughout the year, especially during busy periods such as the Grand National, World Cup and other major sporting events," Marc Fryer, Client Director of Corporate & eGaming at Computacenter, comments. "Depending on market conditions, we anticipate boosting the full-time staff headcount up to seven by the end of the year, but with the view to recruiting a total team of 20 in the new office."

The Computacenter team focused on the Gibraltar office includes Marie Harrington, a Gibraltarian Operations Manager who has worked in Computacenter for over 4 years, and who will be managing operations on the peninsula.

Additionally, the full-time presence of vendor-certified resident engineer Mark Guidon will enable Computacenter to offer the highest level of support and experience to customers in the area. Mark will be supported by a rotating team of engineers from the UK as well as local partners in Gibraltar including Continent 8, and specialised partners to provide eGaming companies with access to the best solutions on the market.

"During 2011, the European eGaming market was set to grow to €16bn and is currently experiencing double digit growth," continued Fryer. "We are looking forward to bringing the very best IT solutions and support to the Gibraltar eGaming community."
