Computacenter helps public sector organisations maximise value for money as part of new IT framework agreement

April 2010

Public sector organisations will be able to access IT solutions and services faster and more cost-effectively via the new Commoditised IT Hardware and Software framework agreement, which features Computacenter as an approved supplier.

Managed by public sector procurement agency Buying Solutions, the Commoditised IT Hardware and Software framework agreement, which launched on 2 March 2010, replaces the former IT Goods and Associated Services (ITGAS) framework agreement.

The new framework is divided into three lots: desktop hardware, IT infrastructure hardware and specialist channel partners for software, and encompasses the procurement of both solutions and associated services. Computacenter is listed on all three lots, providing organisations with a ‘one-stop-shop’ for their networking, desktop and datacenter solutions.

Chris Price, Public Sector Director at Computacenter, commented: “The award of this framework agreement to Computacenter by Buying Solutions reflects our ongoing commitment to helping public sector organisations achieve more with their IT budgets.”

Buying Solutions was established in 2001 and is one of the largest professional buying organisations in the public sector, helping central government and the wider public sector including police authorities, local councils, NHS trusts and schools maximise value for money by providing a fast, efficient and EU-compliant route to market.

Computacenter was one of 20 organisations selected by Buying Solutions for the new framework agreement. “We are delighted with the quality and variety of suppliers who have been awarded a framework agreement and are confident that these will provide an excellent service to our public sector customers, helping them to meet their IT procurement needs,” commented Chris Cliffe, Senior Project Manager, Buying Solutions.

Computacenter has extensive experience of working with public sector organisations, and has delivered ground-breaking IT projects for East Kent Hospitals University Trust, South Wales Fire & Rescue Service, the Greater London Authority and Lancashire Police.

“Computacenter has been providing the public sector with affordable and predictable IT services and solutions for 25 years,” comments Chris Price. “As part of the Commoditised IT Hardware and Software framework agreement, we will not only be able to provide government organisations with competitive product prices but also advice on best practices and proven processes to help them increase efficiency and decrease costs.”
