FIGHTING MS ON THE SLOPES

FIGHTING MS ON THE SLOPES

Computacenter services business analyst, Tony Aspinall, has just skied down the equivalent of Mount Everest every day for six days – all in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Aspinall took part in the MS Trust’s Monster Ski event which took place in Colorado in January. The aim was for the group of nearly 20 sponsored skiers and snowboarders to hurtle down slopes in six resorts – nearly four times the distance the average skier would expect to cover in the same time. In the end, they all managed to exceed this target.

For Aspinall, the inspiration to help the charity came after a friend was diagnosed with the disease. He raised sponsorship for individuals and local companies from his home town of Milton Keynes, with all money raised being matched pound-for-pound by Computacenter. The company has a policy of encouraging this kind of charitable involvement by its employees.

In addition to the Monster Ski event, Aspinall is also raising cash for the charity through eBay auctions. He has already surpassed his initial target of £3,000 and has now set his sights on £4,500. For more information, go to: www.justgiving.com/tonyaspinall_ monsterski_2008
