Computacenter Germany has unveiled its extensive Shared Services portfolio, based on a combination of standardised hardware and services that can be billed according to usage. The solutions can be adapted to meet individual requirements, and are easily integrated into existing infrastructures.
The Shared Services portfolio consists of five elements: the new Managed Datacenter Services and Managed Desktop Environment plus the existing Managed Print Services, Voice on Demand and Network on Demand offerings.
Computacenter Germany is already implementing this Shared Service model on a global scale for its client Cognis, providing standardised service processes based on ITIL, a homogenised manufacturer landscape, process support in web services and a transparent and usagebased billing system.
In May 2006, analysts at Gartner presented a study that highlighted such standardised services as a key solution for companies wishing to increase the benefits of their IT infrastructure while effectively monitoring costs.
The new Managed Desktop Environment (MDE) is an on-demand solution that bundles a standardised hardware platform, operating system, client management software and security functionalities as well as standardised service processes into one comprehensive solution.
Users pay a fixed price per workstation for the services actually used during the specific billing period. Standard or professional versions of notebook and desktop models are available to users within the scope of MDE. In addition to conventional life cycle services, MDE offers asset management, financing and other types of models.
Computacenter Germany offers all client-relevant standard services such as logon, file and print services, email services and basic SAP operations in a usage-based billing model with its Managed Datacenter Services (MDS). Customer-specific applications also utilise the MDS server and storage infrastructure of a modern utility computing-supported datacentre hosted by Computacenter.
The service covers the entire infrastructure, including the disasterprotected datacentre. This is ideal for companies that want to concentrate on their core business and transfer their datacentre operations to Computacenter through selective outsourcing (see main features). Scalability is ensured through continuous capacity adaptations based on demand.
