Cognis, the specialty chemicals provider based in Monsheim, Germany, has signed a contract with Computacenter for the outsourcing of its global IT infrastructure. Computacenter will take over Cognis’ technical IT services at 120 locations in 30 countries across Europe, America and the Asia/Pacific region.
The seven-year deal includes the operation of Cognis’ service desk in 14 languages, desktop services for 6,500 workstations, and the operation of the company’s 120 local area networks. In addition, Computacenter will handle shared service datacentre services. These services will be provided using an on-demand model, giving Cognis the flexibility needed for its future business.
Computacenter is able to meet all the requirements of the contract through its managed services/shared services solutions and its international network of partners. In addition, Computacenter has offered all Cognis employees affected by the deal new employment opportunities within its own organisation. Cognis will save costs by benefiting from the stronger buying power of Computacenter, as well as decreased complexity and greater standardisation. IT capabilities can be adjusted faster to meet the company’s needs. In addition, Cognis’ IT department now has more room to focus on application management and strategic tasks.
“For us it was key that Computacenter has global structures that provide excellent service at very good conditions on site,” said Ralf Stalinski, Cognis’ chief information officer. “What’s more, Computacenter is distinguished by strong customer orientation, professional project management and a highly qualified team.”
