Service description
Rapid Desktop Migration (RDM) is an approach to the delivery of Microsoft Windows XP and business applications to the desktop. This approach encompasses an end-to-end set of processes, procedures and tools to optimise the delivery time of a new business desktop. The RDM approach is unique to Computacenter and, when adopted by customers, ensures that deployment risks are understood and managed whilst enabling the time and cost of the actual physical deployment to be dramatically reduced.
The clearly defined and repeatable RDM processes ensures that all aspects of desktop deployment are approached in the same controlled manner for each project – from the definition of project requirements, through discovery, design and implementation of deployment processes and technologies to implementation and rollout to users. RDM also ensures that the impact on users and support services are understood, agreed and controlled appropriately.
The ultimate aim is to provide customers with the most efficient and cost-effective method for delivering their new business desktop that enables them to significantly reduce the ongoing cost of supporting, managing and enhancing their desktop estate.
