06/06/06 - IT services in 30 countries and over 120 locations / Outsourcing contract with a 7-year term
Kerpen, June 6, 2006. Cognis, the specialty chemicals provider, domiciled in Monsheim, Germany, signed a contract with Computacenter for the outsourcing of its global IT infrastructure. According to the contract, the IT infrastructure service provider will take over Cognis’ technical IT services at 120 different locations in 30 countries across Europe, America and the Asia/Pacific region.
The 7-year outsourcing contract includes the operation of Cognis’ complete service desk in 14 languages, desktop services for 6,500 workstations, and the operation of the company’s internal 120 local area networks. In addition, Computacenter will handle the shared service data center services including the distribution of software as well as the SAP, file print, logon, midrange and e-mail operations. l Computacenter provides Cognis with all services on the basis of an on-demand model, giving Cognis the dynamism needed for its future business.
The negotiations focused on the range of services, flexibility and costs. Computacenter was able to meet all requirements through its managed services/shared services solutions and its international network of partners. In addition, the Computacenter has offered all Cognis employees affected by the outsourcing new employment opportunities within its own organization.
By outsourcing its IT infrastructure, Cognis will save costs by benefiting from the stronger buying power of Computacenter, as well as the decreased complexity and greater standardization of its IT set up. IT capacities can be adjusted faster to the company’s needs or changes in the market. In addition, Cognis’ IT department is given more room to focus on application management and strategic tasks.
