Support Engineer – Desk Side Engineer

We are currently looking at hiring a Support Engineer – Desk Side Engineer

Description

  • Respond to hardware and software service calls and ensure SLA targets are achieved
  • Based on standard  installation documents, being able to install desktop operating systems, load images on a pc, install software applications (like Office,...) , install and configure peripherals (printers, PDA, ...)
  • Perform troubleshooting on desktop and laptop level
  • Adhere to escalation procedures
  • Assist with technical escalations for other team members
  • Contribute to and use the sites procedure file
  • Ensure that all hardware calls are logged/administered in helpdesk ticketing system
  • Ensure accurate completion of all incident records and associated paperwork
  • Adhere to Computacenter and customer Health & Safety policies
  • Assist with Spares Management

Skills

Essential:

  • A broad technical knowledge of PC’s/peripherals and their architecture
  • Good working knowledge of current software packages
  • Good working knowledge of operating system
  • Accredited in relevant manufacturers hardware qualification
  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure
  • Ability to work on own initiative, address and resolve problems in a pressurised environment.
  • Ability to diagnose faults in the hardware/software/operating systems used by the customer
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to take a methodical approach to service issues
  • Contributes to, supports and works within the team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good keyboard skills
  • Good team player
  • Logical approach
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Good customer skills

Desirable:

  • Commercial awareness
  • A software technical qualifications
