Computacenter Belgium is experiencing an explosive growth and therefore are we looking for a Trainee Support Engineer (m/f).
We are looking for applications from graduates who have a real interest & passion for IT (PC/LAN). We are looking for candidates who love problem solving, facing new challenges on a daily basis & really enjoy getting to grips with new technologies. Any exposure to several OS (Unix, Windows, Linux, …) would be ideal but not essential as full training is available for the right candidates. This type of role is really best suited to candidates passionate about Linux & who are eager to build a career around Wintel technology.
In addition to this technical know-how/aptitude you must also have a strong sense of customer service & be able to deal effectively with problems, possess excellent written & verbal communication skills & have a logical & calm approach to problem solving.
The Trainee Support Engineer role is offered to develop a candidate into Support Engineer position.
The Trainee Support Engineer will initially be office-based gaining familiarisation both with products and business environments. Testing and telephone / email support duties will be undertaken at this time.
Trainee Support Engineer will have the full support of a team at all times.
Travelling requirements are not perceived as development into the role, rather it is envisaged that progression into Support Engineer role will involve an increase in work complexity and personal responsibility.
Some professional training may be offered, Trainee Support Engineer will drive this requirement.
Candidate Requirements :
Candidate will be demonstrably comfortable in customer-facing environments and a strong and confident communicator.
Candidate will be personable and a strong team player because the development of the Trainee Support Engineer will be hinged on drawing from experience and support of the existing team. Candidate will need to be ready or to learn to able to draw on skills of colleagues in a goal-orientated manner.
Candidate will be ready to work on own-initiative and self-motivated to develop into wider responsibilities as the candidate will to an extent develop his/her own future and direction within the company and the industry.
Candidate will be ready to respond with a sense of urgency where required and be flexible and helpful within the existing team.
Candidates’ knowledge and experience in reference to the Qualifications-Knowledge-Experience section below will be an advantage. Interest, familiarity and confidence in Windows OS, and in general PC and network technology, are a pre-requisite.
Qualifications - Knowledge & Experience
In general the candidate will show knowledge and understanding of Broadcast and/or Media
production technologies. Experience will be a strong advantage.
Knowledge of PC components and builds is required. Knowledge and familiarity of Windows
OS is required.
Any knowledge of the following will be advantageous:
- Knowledge and skills in computer networking technology and configuration.
- Knowledge of Windows OS at Registry / Configuration level.
- Knowledge of Ms Office tools
- Knowledge of Hardware configurations
Your responsibilities:
Respond to technical support requests by email and telephone, drawing on skills of team where required.
Escalate calls and visit customer sites to isolate and resolve support issues where required.
Complete systems testing and post-sales commissioning for specific projects.
Perform test and repair of hardware
Undertake training of customers on company products and distributed products.
Provide sales team with pre-sales technical support/expertise to assist in systems proposals to customers.
Assist Sales team in customer meetings where required, to provide technical knowledge and provide demonstrations.
Handle and respond to tight deadlines in a customer-facing environment.
