When you want to upgrade your IT infrastructure, advice from an unbiased business partner can help you assess your strategy and requirements.

Greater London Authority

The Greater London Authority (GLA) controls many government programmes in the capital, including police, fire, transport and economic development. This degree of responsibility requires an integrated, highly-reliable, interoperable and future-proofed IT system. Already a Computacenter customer, it started working with the company on a new system that had to be rolled out on a tight timescale without disrupting day-to-day operations.

The solution was thoroughly tested in a proof-of-concept lab before being rolled out for two pilots, then the actual migration took place over three weeks. As well as meeting current needs, the new infrastructure also has the scalability and flexibility to enable the GLA to progress its e-government programme.

Welsh Development Agency

The global nature of the Welsh Development Agency's work and its desire to embrace Internet technology was placing increasing pressure on its existing IT infrastructure. At the same time, it was keen to become a leading e-agency. It needed to review its entire architecture and bring in more efficient working practices.

After deciding to standardise on a Microsoft platform, it faced countless decisions about servers, legacy applications, backup solutions and desktop builds. The agency knew it would require expert help. With Computacenter's help, the agency rolled out Windows 2000, Office 2000 and Active Directory, which increased functionality and reduced complexity and cost.
